Message From an Old Friend is a Side Quest located in Novigrad.

Once Geralt reaches Hierarch Square in the city of Novigrad, he can enter a bookstore near the northern exit. Inside, the shopkeep informs him that he's been saving a special book for Geralt at the request of a customer long ago.

Upon finding the book, My Manifesto, the Witcher realizes that it was penned by Jacques D'Aldersberg - the antagonist from the original Witcher game - and he'd left Geralt a note inside it's pages.

The note forwarns Geralt of an impending cataclysmic event, the very same one that D'Aldersberg was attempting to stave off in the first game. The former leader of the Order of the Flaming Rose proves to have been right all along, as the finale of Wild Hunt sees
